A Family Tradition
The history of Hook and Anchor
On Wednesday March 23, 1983 Fred and Hilda Boyd open the doors to The Hook and Anchor for the first time.
Since then, it has served the community through a family friendly restaurant with tasty seafood fare. The Hook and Anchor is the largest restaurant in McDowell that offers private rooms for parties or meetings. Tammy Yates was hired in 1993 and continues to run the kitchen bringing great dishes out to her guests to this day.
In 2008, Rob Noyes and David Ditt purchased the Hook and Anchor from the Boyds. The same focus on quality and service that Rob and David bring to Countryside BBQ was taken to The Hook and Anchor. The Sunday hot bar and daily fresh salad bar were new additions to the restaurant along side the ability to cater large or small events throughout the community. The specialty fish fry is second to none, and you don't have to worry about anything when they cater it. The steak and burger additions to the menu comes from requests from our guest's feedback.
Hook and Anchor has served lunch and dinners to families, friends, and neighbors of the McDowell County for the last 37 years! It is the place to go and have a great lunch and socialize after church on Sunday, but you might want to get there early because it’s the busiest day of the week. Look forward to seeing you at “The Hook”!
